Pranburi Forest Park and Nature Reserve

Pranburi Forest Park and Nature Reserve - Aleenta Hua Hin Resort & Spa

At Aleenta Hua Hin – Pranburi Resort & Spa, we are fortunate to be surrounded by some of Thailand’s most beautiful and untouched landscapes. One of the true gems nearby is Pranburi Forest Park and Nature Reserve, a quiet coastal escape where lush mangrove forests, winding waterways, and peaceful beaches create an unforgettable experience.

The Story Behind Pranburi Forest Park

Pranburi Forest Park was established in 1982 under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Covering over 3.17 square kilometres of protected land, it was created to preserve Thailand’s precious mangrove forests and coastal ecosystems. Today, the park remains a shining example of conservation, supporting a diverse range of wildlife and plant species and offering visitors the chance to connect with nature in its purest form.

Located just a short drive south along the coast from Aleenta Hua Hin—Pranburi Resort & Spa, reaching Pranburi Forest Park is simple and enjoyable. Many of our guests choose to cycle there, enjoying the scenic coastal track that leads almost directly to the park. Alternatively, a quick journey by private car or taxi allows more time to explore at a relaxed pace.

Mangrove Forest Walks

One of the highlights of visiting Pranburi Forest Park is the Mangrove Nature Trail, a raised wooden walkway that winds gracefully through the heart of the mangrove forest. Shaded by a canopy of greenery, the trail offers a gentle and cooling walk above the saltwater pools and tangled roots below.

As you wander along the path, you’ll come across observation platforms offering panoramic views over the landscape. Cameras are a must–not just for the sweeping vistas, but for the chance encounters with the park’s vibrant wildlife. Every step reveals something new: a curious mudskipper darting across the water or a flash of blue from a kingfisher overhead.

Waterways by Long-tail Boat

For those who wish to see the park from a different perspective, local guides offer traditional long-tail boat rides along the Pranburi River. Setting off halfway along the mangrove trail, these tours glide peacefully through the waterways, revealing hidden corners of the forest that are inaccessible by foot.

It is common to spot macaque monkeys peering curiously from the trees or large monitor lizards basking on the banks. A boat trip is a fantastic way to slow down and truly absorb the beauty and calm of Pranburi’s natural world. Boat rides are typically priced between 400 and 500 baht, and larger boats can comfortably accommodate families or groups of up to eight people.

Beaches and Coastal Beauty

Beyond the forest, the park opens onto a quiet stretch of coastline where the Pranburi River meets the sea. The beach here is long, clean, and blissfully uncrowded, offering a perfect place to pause and relax after a morning of exploration.

Unlike the busier shores of Hua Hin or Cha-am, Pranburi’s beach is a more private haven. The only sounds are the gentle rustle of palm trees and the lapping of the waves. Public facilities, including restrooms and small food stalls, make spending a few hours enjoying the coastal charm easy. The beach’s dark sand, rocky outcrops, and occasional offshore islands create a picturesque setting for swimming, picnicking, or simply soaking up the peaceful surroundings.

Wildlife Encounters to Remember

One of Pranburi Forest Park’s greatest attractions is the abundance of wildlife. Look out for colourful fiddler crabs waving their single oversized claws, monitor lizards moving silently through the mangroves, and a rich variety of birdlife, from herons to sea eagles.

Every visit offers the chance to witness nature’s quiet wonders, whether a mudskipper battling the tide or a butterfly resting momentarily along the trail. The park’s well-preserved habitats support a thriving ecosystem, making every encounter feel special and unspoilt.

Local Dining and Relaxation Nearby

After a day of exploring, there is no better way to refresh than with a meal at one of Pranburi’s local restaurants. The area boasts a delightful range of options, from beachfront seafood shacks to casual family eateries.

Savour freshly grilled fish, classic Thai curries, and spicy salads while enjoying the sea breeze and uninterrupted views. Pranburi’s dining scene’s relaxed atmosphere offers the perfect end to an adventurous and rewarding day.

Sustainable Travel and Environmental Respect

At Aleenta Hua Hin – Pranburi Resort & Spa, sustainability is woven into everything we do. Through our Pure Blue Foundation, we are committed to protecting the natural beauty that surrounds us, from our single-use plastic-free initiatives to supporting local conservation efforts.

A visit to Pranburi Forest Park aligns perfectly with this philosophy. We encourage our guests to travel responsibly: stay on marked trails, respect wildlife, and support local businesses wherever possible.

Pranburi Forest Park and Nature Reserve offers a rare opportunity to experience Thailand’s coastal wilderness at its best.
